Being at kind of an impasse with respect to controlling for the moment, I would like to do some flying around the Atlanta Center service area to refamiliarize myself with the airspace and general procedures.

I am a bit confused by the mix of current, outdated, and outright apocryphal info I find on the VATSIM and VATUSA sites with respect to software. One document says that FSINN is the only accepted interface, another says something about Squawkbox 4. I downloaded and installed Squawkbox 4 and it had immediate undesirable effects on my sim (FSX suddenly took AGES to load the aircraft list and select an aircraft), so I promptly removed it. FSINN was another story ... it seemed to work but the user interface was less comprehensible than the stimulus bill, and documentation was just about as available as the bill was before it passed. smile.gif

It was a bit simpler when I ran FS9 and SquawkBox, but progress marches on and I need to catch up.

Any hints as to what the CURRENT word is on software for FSX? I don't need lots of options -- I just need ONE that WORKS.

Scott

FSInn and SB4 are your options for FSX. There is a ton of documentation on FSInn in the VATSIM forums, just locate the FSInn help forum and you're golden.

FSInn is a little daunting at first, but once installed, it's really comprehensive, and trouble free. There is great support in the forum mentioned above. Just follow the 'sticky' installation post to the letter, and you should have no problem.
