The Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) is one of twenty control centers in the United States and is responsible for approximately 168,000 square miles of airspace encompassing the southern half of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
Houston Center is also responsible for approximately 109,000 square miles of airspace over the Gulf of Mexico. Radar and radio coverage is provided by 13 radar sites and 151 VHF/UHF communication frequencies located at 39 sites throughout Houston Center airspace.
